In the old days when they were small, they always wanted to help me cook. It was a disasster and I usually ended up upset and yelling. Sorry, but I’m no saint. YOU try cooking with autistic twins in a little kitchen. First, they’re twins and they fight a LOT. Second, well, you know the autism part.
But now, we actually have fun in the kitchen. They kept on insisting to help, and I am just enough of a sucker that I let them.
But again, it’s just one more example of keeping them engaged. Don’t give up trying to let them work with you. If you don’t give up, you end up with a happy night like I had in the kitchen tonight. It was an almost perfect experience because when making nachos there are lots of different jobs so they weren’t fighting over who was going to stir.
Isaac cooking meat for nachos. He did a great job! Yummy stuff. Isaiah did, too, on the beans. I made the cheese sauce and the chopping of the onions. I also made the salsa.
